Whether you’re a local looking for a fun day in the city or a visitor wanting to see the sights, this easy daytime itinerary hits all the must-see spots — and it works great with or without a car.

Explore Calgary’s top landmarks, foodie spots, and Instagram-worthy locations—all in a single day. Here’s how to spend a picture-perfect day exploring Calgary’s most iconic downtown highlights.

9:00 AM – Coffee & River Views at the Simmons Building

Start your day in East Village at the historic Simmons Building. Grab a handcrafted coffee from Phil & Sebastian Roasters, and maybe a pastry to go at . You’re right beside the Bow River, so it’s the perfect place to ease into your day with a view.

10:00 AM – Stroll the Riverwalk & Visit the Peace Bridge

Walk west along the Bow River Pathway until you reach the bright red Peace Bridge, one of Calgary’s most iconic photo spots. It’s a scenic, flat walk that gives you skyline views and lots of good angles for photos.

11:00 AM – Explore the Calgary Central Library

Make your way back through downtown to the Calgary Public Library, a true architectural gem. Its arched wood interior is quiet, peaceful, and full of interesting details. This stop is just as enjoyable for design lovers as it is for readers or families.

11:45 AM – Photo Op at Wonderland Sculpture

Right next door to the library is Wonderland, a 39-foot tall wire-mesh head sculpture by artist Jaume Plensa, located in front of The Bow building. Step inside the sculpture for a surreal look at downtown from a whole new angle.

12:15 PM – Panoramic Views from the Calgary Tower

It’s time to go up — head to the Calgary Tower for sweeping 360° views of the city, the river, and (on clear days) the Rocky Mountains. Don’t miss the glass floor for a little thrill.

1:00 PM – Lunch at Ten Foot Henry

Just a short walk away is Ten Foot Henry, a beloved Calgary spot known for its veggie-forward menu and relaxed vibe. The share plates are fresh, flavorful, and perfect for groups or solo diners. And yes, you should try the butterscotch pudding.

2:30 PM – Strike a Pose at Calgary’s Most Instagrammable Museum

Ready to switch it up? Head to Calgary Selfie Museum on 17 Ave SE for an hour pure creativity. With colorful themed photo stations, interactive sets, and amazing backdrops, it’s the perfect spot to snap some unforgettable pics. Bring your family, friends, kids, or even your pet — this stop is all about fun, creativity, and capturing unforgettable moments.

You can walk in, but it’s best to book your spot in advance at CalgarySelfieMuseum.com — especially on weekends when it gets busy. Limited free parking is available right outside the museum, so if you’re driving, you won’t have to stress about finding a spot.

4:00 PM – Stroll Stephen Avenue

Make your way back to downtown’s historic Stephen Avenue. Lined with sandstone buildings, boutiques, and patios, it’s great for a relaxed walk or window shopping. Grab an iced treat from Village Ice Cream nearby if you need a cooldown.

5:00 PM – Dinner at Charbar

End your day back where you started: the Simmons Building. Charbar, located inside, serves up Argentine-inspired dishes with river views and a stylish rooftop patio. It’s one of the best dinner spots in the city — casual, cool, and perfect for golden hour.
